Subject: Pike Agri Labs

Eastern Ontario
Check out this site . Bob Pike runs his own lab and sells do-it-yourself kits. I have the BIO-ION Deluxe kit. It will do N,P,K,Ca,Mg, and Humus. I would not invest any money for the micronutrient kits out there. They are simply not very accurate and most of the time you will  not have a reading at all. They cannot be trusted. The major nutrient tests are not as accurate as the labs, but they give you a good idea. I like my kit from pike labs. It is a modified LaMotte kit. It's fairly quick and simple. You will not find anything simpler out there. If you do multiple tests then go with The Bio-ION-DELUXE kit. La Motte also sells kits, but they are not as user friendly as Bob's modified kit. Whatever you do, stay away from the colorimeter kit from LaMotte. Junk is the word to describe it. You may thinks it's easier and simpler, but just the opposite, not to mention expensive. I do between 50 and 75 samples every year. Come to think of it, I need to do them soon.
