Are you suggesting that rock phosphate just might work on his pH=5.1 soils.... that there is enough acid in the soil to break that rock phophate down?
but if he applies lime to get that pH up to 6.5-7, then the odds of rock phosphate breaking down in a timely fashion go right out the window?

Just asking for clarification here....

sounds like a quandary to be in .......
