Greensboro North Carolina | I’m not to far from you possibly I know we’re a 5440 or 5460 is that can be bought for about what the dion head cost as well as a dion cutter that will be for sale as soon as cow prices are better we run a kempter 3000 on a 5730 and I can tell you certain corn varieties are better than others feeding in some feed like I call it pixie sticks and some flow through great I have noticed that certain knives in the cutter drum wear faster than others as well as chip off (i have only ran deere knifes) i know my processor rollers are needing to be replaced badly but i can tell you first hand after this year variety’s play a part as well my head wil do great in sorghum both tall and short but small grain we use the direct cut cycle head a neighbor had a 5830 back in the day when they were new and the kempter made it look like you were running to fast bent over stalks I have not seen first hand what the dion does in any type condition s but I know first hand that variety s make a difference with mine I would be happy to look back through my notebook and tell you which ones didn’t feed good to see if it’s the problem as I said I have no experience with the dion head just speaking of things I learned the hard way the past 5 years i thought the rowless header would solve all my problems and for the most part they have its just been a slight learning curve along the way some variety s dont feed in as well my email is good if you want |
