Ed, Agree on the bad data. I really cut it close on N this year due to high $. I tried to allow for the 11% N in map which I VRA'd so VRA'd my NH3 to match. Saved a ton on my NH3 bill, but am starting to see some firing in the doughtier soils. Still, I followed the N rate calculator for my economic rate of return, but feel I will be seeing some N deficient samples. Thats ok, as I am more interested in the balance of the elements in the samples. May I ask how you increased your soil release of K? Through high cal/gypsum-- base saturation---other? One thing I noticed about this year was the pervasive Mn def. I had. I have high ph's, yet with my high cal % rarely found Mn def. except in the muck. This year I had yellowing in fields where I had never seen it before. My gut is telling me it is due to dry soils/ slow plant root growth. Strange year. |
