Some of the row beans were preceded by oats (conventional till system) while others were preceded by forage radishes on 30" rows (the bean rows) with oats in the inter-rows (minimum till system). Both the radish and oats winterkilled and the residues were incorporated a few inches deep with a rotavator prior to planting.

The solid beans were notill drilled into a very thick stand of rolled cereal rye (no-till system).

This is a replicated experiment (4 reps) with 3 treatments (all organic).
