I think the key to being happy with zone till on your planter is your soil type and how much moisture is in your soil profile at planting time. In our area the Rawson system kinda went by the wayside because of our wet soils. I have a planter that was setup with several coulters and ended up removing them and using only 1 coulter (or none) and my trash wheels. It was bringing up to much wettish dirt chunks and then the trash whippers would kinda push them away and I ended up planting in less then desirable soil conditions. On a real dry spring it worked fine. Dry springs haven't happened for a few yrs now. That's why strip tillage, other then with a planter, for me is the way to go. So evaluate your own conditions you are most likely to have and adjust your machinery accordingly.
