Subject: RE: Rawson zone-till (triple coulter)

Dodge County, WI
We use the Rawson 3 coulter setup with Dawn trashwheels on our planter. Saves a ton of time in the spring. Planting into pretty much anything is a breeze. We apply 120lbs of 10-20-27 starter and 31 gals of 28% per acre. The starter goes on the "almost center" coulter, and the 28 on either side of the row about 3" each way. The planting zone is pretty well worked up, and we don't have to go back to sidedress later, although you could almost make a case of more efficient N usage if you did. No burning of the seed has happened yet. I even applied up to 75 gals of 28% on a few passes for a custom job this spring when the customer told me to "use it up" as it was his last field. (Thats some really healthy looking stuff right now.) We are also a 2 man operation, and it works well for us. No strip tilling in the fall is needed. Hope this helps. I get the idea this may be something you are interested in. I encourage you to go to it.

Ben
