Western Oregon | Perhaps I have told less of a story and got right to the point.
If you say you are going to give something to someone then you should do it...
If you take a field with the promise you will take care of someone who was there before you-even if that person is a pain in the rear-then do it!
If you don't want to be annoyed with a neighbor who is annoying-THEN DON'T GIVE HIM THE STRAW!
What does it hurt to give some moron a break?
The straw is free because there is a lot of it and the local price is really low. When the price is above $35 a ton in the field I do pay for straw.
The straw is used for bedding...It needs to be clean because horse folks don't like to look at weeds.
True, there may have been a fear that the straw would not be removed in a timely manner, but it had only been three days.
No, I did not want to bale it, but that really was not the point was it.
Finally, I told Mr. Annoying horse guy that if he gets a field like that, he needs to get right in there with his little baler and get it done.
And in conclusion: I think there were other circumstances that I did not understand. I sometimes have a hard time communicating with this guy. I know he understands english so I can't blame his accent, but sometimes you say one thing and he thinks you mean something else.
I just need to realize this is the 21st century. The crusty old fellows who lived by handshakes and what they said was what they meant, whose word was set in stone, those guys are all dead-and all the smart young farmers are stealing their ground from each other. That is progress. | |
