| Most everything in PA is re-active instead of pre-active, but I have discovered some useful information;
1) Weed scouting, (wild oats in wheat), I have found pockets and spot sprayed the most economic areas.
2) Weather related crop damage (Hail, wind, flooding)
3) In our sugar beet crop I use the NIR band on the crop canopy to determine how I should VRA nitrogen on next years crop(s).
4) I have used the NIR band to scout our wheat crop check maturity before harvest.
5) Measure area damaged by neighbors in chemical drift claim.
6) One thing that I am surprised with in the amount of in-season wheel track compaction. It is making to re-think tillage practices.
This is a short list...just to give you an idea viewing your crop at 400' give you a total different outlook on your crop growing conditions
