Texas | After a huge tornado destroyed and damaged many of the big trees on one property, I tried to save and cherish what remained. Unfortunately there were some big hackberry trees which were appreciated for what shade they provided during scalding hot summers. One of the larger hackberry trees developed a vertical split right after the tornado hit. We ended up drilling 1” diameter cross holes and then threaded in long bolts with big flat washers to hold the tree together. It kept the tree alive and stable for nearly twenty years. | |
