Gettysburg, SD | I use almost all RCBS components on my reloading bench. I shoot some expensive calibers so payback was fast for me. I also prefer all copper bullets for large game applications and that ammo is not always easy to find, or match accurate. so to get match grade long range ammo for your rifles, you have to be picky about brass, powder, primer, bullet, seat depth, charge, rate of twist... on and on. not every bullet was made for every gun.
you can buy almost any ammo and be accurate enough to 250 yards. The problems will develop downrange of that. I reload .338 Lapua, .338 Win Mag, .300 RUM, .300 Win Mag, 270 WSM, 6.5 Creedmoor.
The precision hunter rounds for 6.5 creedmoor from Hornady are a Match grade product. impressive.
You simply can not afford to shoot a .338 Lapua Magnum unless you reload.
Pistol rounds, 22-250, .223 etc I just buy at the store. close enough for what i want those calibers to do, and cost savings is not there. | |
