I can't quite explain it, but I've somehow completely changed my herds behaviour by limit feeding them. Used to keep the feeders full and the cows fat as ticks, and they'd still swarm the tractor every feeding, like they hadn't eaten in a week..

I was low on feed the last 2 winters, so I cut them back.. They maintained ok body condition, but didn't carry much extra weight.. Well now I can show up and the cows casually stroll over to the feeders, and a bunch of them even stay laying around, No panic to get to a feeder. Half the time I don't even close the door on the cab while I get out to remove plastic.. they would have had that smashed off in the first 10 seconds the way they acted before.

Less feed and much less hassle preparing bales.. I'll take it!
