this is what we've done but no-till into 6" wheat stubble that we baled off the straw. worked great only when we did it the drill/blades were brand new and we set it on the 1st notch and I was worried it was little too deep (1/2") was my best guess when digging the seed behind the drill. Decent ground moisture and .30 of rain shortly after and it worked perfectly.
