I can't remember the exact specs but I know they drive narrower than the machine is supposed to spread. If it's a 60' spread I think they did half and rate and drove 30'. One time they did half rate each direction (this can be bad if it's really soft as you end up with perpendicular tracks). I didn't put in a nurse crop the past couple times as the alfalfa comes so much better this way. With organic that might be different but I didn't spray mine, just cut when it got tall enough. Never did need to spray.
