Kentucky | Got a RZT 42, the smallest one they make. Wish I had a bigger size, but $ was a strong concern. Nonetheless, it replaced a regular riding mower with the same witdh deck - I finish in 1/4 to 1/3 and nearly 1/2 less time. One of the three yards I mow is one big triangle. The RZT cuts mowing time nearly in half since there's so much less turning to get lined back up. The zero turn is the thing to have when having to mow around a bunch of stuff also.
When ever I replace the RZT, I will NOT go back to a regular riding mower.
It does have the going in reverse mower deck cut out switch. I thought about overriding it, but I've left it in place. When you get to flying around the yard mowing and pull it into reverse...I can see the safety aspect of it. Both levers have to be pulled into reverse to cut off the deck blades. Usually, I can ease back with one side, then the other to get backed into a spot and mow it.
Speaking of flying around the yard, with a smooth yard, you can go as fast as the levers will push ahead and mow fine.
Now the RZT 42 is not any where near a commercial grade, I think the mowing deck is the same as a Yard Machine, MTD and others, just on a zero turn drive system.
I 've had it since the summer of 2006, running fine. Replaced one spindle, deck belt, and a set of blades. Still has the original battery-it won't make it through this coming winter though.
