Subject: RE: Anything wrong with a Clark forklift?

Following up on several threads and this is one.

The Clark forklifts I was looking at were at the Denver Ritchie Brothers auction. When I got there to look at them they both had dead batteries. All of the other forklifts in the lineup started fine.

I thought I was about 20 minutes before they were going on auction so I asked my wife to drive over to the fence and throw the jumper cables over so I could use one of the forklifts beside the Clarks to jumpstart them and see them run.

While I was waiting I logged on to the RB app and noticed they were already sold, lol.

When I put the trip into Google maps it was calculating arrival time in the destination time zone which I knew it did. But for some reason that day I calculated the trip as if Google was giving arrival time in the departure time zone. So I subtracted an hour before we left.

Anyway, long and the short of it was they both sold for $8,000. I felt like that was a good deal and I would have bought at least one of them at that price even if I had not been able to see them run. Was really kicking myself for missing it.

On the way home I called the Daewoo dealer I deal with on my forklift. They are also a Toyota dealer. Asked them about used lifts and what they might have. They spoke highly of not only Daewoo and Toyota but also Hyster and Yale (even though they are not a Hyster or Yale dealer) but they didn't have anything good to say about Clark. He said in particular the late model Clarks they had been around had heating problems which was hard for me to believe but I guess between that and not being able to hear either of them run, I was kinda glad I had missed out.

Sounds like another poster on this thread felt somewhat the same about Clark.

Anyway, I ended up with a Toyota on a different RB auction. 2013 8FGU30 with 2630 hours on it. Seems pretty decent so far. Bonus is that it allows me to keep using the same dealer that I get parts from for my Daewoo forklift. I like dealing with them even though they're over 5 hours away. They drop ship parts to me and give me advice over the phone and have a remote tech who lives about 1.5 hours from me. Really I don't know of any forklift dealers closer than 1.5 hours away so I guess I'm happy.

Thanks again!
