Subject: politics aside.

Politics aside.. when I get time I'll update my ethanol numbers and comment on the EPA's proposal.

Long story short.. Jim Weismeyer said that the Trump administration is going to roll out funding package for e-15 infrastructure after the first of the year..

Anywho.. back to politics..

Ukraine is one of the poorest countries in Europe..

Public fury has fuelled two revolutions. In 2004, street protests helped Viktor Yushchenko defeat an attempt by the then prime minister Viktor Yanukovych to rig the presidential election. During his five years in power, however, Yushchenko failed to dislodge the networks of patronage. Amid widespread disillusionment, he lost the 2010 election to Yanukovych, who was in turn driven out in February 2014, after corruption mutated into still more virulent forms.

Officials from the general prosecutor’s office, who were interviewed by Reuters, claimed that between 2010 and 2014, officials were stealing a fifth of the country’s national output every year. This behaviour has infected all sectors of Ukrainian society. President Yanukovych lived in a vast palace on the edge of Kiev. After he fled, protesters found millions of dollars worth of paintings, icons, books and ceramics stacked in his garage. He’d had nowhere to display them.

Enter the Bidens..

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/09/hunter-bidens-legal-socially-acceptable-corruption/598804/

I guess I'm not sure which side is right.. ?

politics is “a series of unsentimental transactions between those who need votes and those who have money.”

So if that is correct.. ???  When we contribute to a campaign we are "buying" political influence..

Or doing business..??

https://news.bloomberglaw.com/corporate-law/chs-admits-role-in-alleged-mexican-bribery-scheme-startribune

Agribusiness firm CHS Inc. admitted in an ongoing lawsuit that Mexican customs brokers paid bribes to help it speed up international rail shipments, according to a report by Minneapolis-based Star Tribune.

  • The Minnesota-based cooperative declined to comment when asked about the case by Bloomberg News
  • CHS also confirmed possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act to the Securities and Exchange Commission, saying its employees paid a small number of reimbursements to customs brokers for bribes they paid to Mexican govt officials in 2014 and 2015: Star Tribune

When someone appoints to a board or hires the son or daughter or wife of a powerful political person.. (Burisma and Hunter Biden..??) (Tyson and Hillary aka Bill Clinton..??)

Are they buying political capital?

Is it a bribe?

or just an astute political transaction?

When we buy a book or pay a former person to give a speech..??

Is that okay?

Or not?
