Hi Brian, From an engineering standpoint, I don't really see a way of reinforcing an axles that has a thin wall tube which is partially/mostly rusted thru from the inside. The wheel ends are where the manufacturing dollars are. It might make sense to have a remanufacture program where they trade out the axles and send your dealer a rebuilt one with old wheel ends and a new center tube for some modest price. That would be better than trying to ignore what I think is a major safety problem that is only going to get worse. If they informed people and charged $150. or so to change the axle for a remanufactured one BEFORE they fail, I think they could come out about even cost wise and be a responsible company interested in their customers' safety as much as their customers' wallets. I doubt a large modern bureaucratic company could put this sort of program together however. jmho. Jim at Dawn
