I don't disagree with you at all. Ford should fix any known safety concerns to this magnitude. In the end they will pay more through bad publicity and lawsuits than to fix the problem. I wouldn't be surprised that they couldn't come up with a modification to the existing axle (non broken/damadged) that would make it safe and be less costly than replacing them.
