Genoa, Illinois
You were right in my neck of the woods (Sycamore, IL)and you are correct you dont have to look far to find corn that most likely wont make. If you go 30 miles south corn for the most part looks good, it is all going to be wet this fall. We thought we had it bad last year with elevators closing early (as early as 12pm) because the dryers couldnt keep up, I am afraid last fall might feel like a walk in the park unless we have record high temps in september and october. I will say that I am very very happy with the way our crops are looking compared to some of the neighbors, we waited longer to plant some of it than I wanted but it sure looks like it made all the difference. It is pretty easy to find fields around that have corn ranging from less than knee high to full tassel. Hope you enjoyed the drive.
