With that cylinder you can use a screwdriver to pop the ring off the back of the gland through the hose hole to disassemble and put the ring on the gland prior to reassembly. Or install the tapered ring in the groove towards the snap ring to disassemble and reverse it to reassemble. Some cylinders you can't access the ring through the hose fitting.
