Subject: RE: 5x5 vs 5x6 balers

John Deere 5x5 and 5x6 are not the same baler in a smaller size. The 5x6 is built heavier, has a different tension system, has separate lift gate cylinders, uses a kicker not a ramp, I run a 560M and make all the bales I sell 5x5 because they bring just as much money, most customers can't handle 5x6 bales, they fit my barn better so I can store more, and it is easy on the baler not being pressed to the max every bale. Everything I make for myself or custom bale for cattle guys is a 5x5.5, still easy on baler but less bales to haul and feed. If you want to bale little bales get a 4x5, if you want versatility and longevity get a 5x6 and make them to suit your needs.
