Subject: geringhoff

NW Iowa
I have ran both the 3000 and the rota disc. The geringhoff gets my vote everytime and the 3000 (hugger) is a good head. The key thing with geringhoff is remove the stubble knives, remove the ear savers on top of the snoots, run around 680 to 720 on head speed. I have never had a chain come off, running with snoots tipped up, with tips on the ground, and the roller frame 3-4 " off ground. If you let a bunch of crap build up so the tensioner tube sticks it will bother. Especially after a rain. Run a bar down the tensioners and kick the crap off the plate and it won't bother( every 600 acres). You might need to pull the end out of tensioner and clean the crap out, if someone let it build up bad. Geringhoff does have an update for this. It's in my service book. I also run the 9 lug vs the 6 lug chains.
