This was my first year with getinghoff coming from a 893 deere. I didnt have any down corn, but what stands out to me about your chain issue is the sprocket teeth both upper and lower are very shallow. They do this up top to act as a cheap clutch, but id rather it be normal depth teeth. Theyd hang on better.

I know having new chains on mine midway through this season really helped also. New springs or maybe even finding heavier springs could help a lot as well.


That said, i was pretty happy overall with the john deere head. I had a reel on it, but even before that if you put in the time to adjust it, it got the job done about as good as any in tough conditions.
