Nice job with the review. I only have experience with a Deere 612c. This year I broke down and traded the trusty old 9770 for an S770. The nice thing about the 770 I could rock the head back with the fore/aft tilt and let snouts just barely skim the ground. My head is a 2012 and was needing parts so went with Calmer Deck plates mainly because they have a wider opening in the front curve back to the straight part as it always frustrated me coming back into the row if you were not perfect it would push over corn. I think the Calmer shape is much better. I did run them a little wider than normal. I also slowed my feederhouse way down. If the ears hung on they came in for the most part. My contour master was wanting to run low right to start and we re-calibrated the head and I was really impressed with the job it was doing. I don't think I had to get out of the cab after that. I did fold over one snout but think I hit a deep pivot wheel track or a badger hole. High yield irrigated corn with football field sized patches of down stuff broke over about knee high from October windstorm. All the dryland we had left was PO157 or PO339 and both were standing tall when we finished day before yesterday.
