Now the memory just came to me of my dad building a temporary picket fence silo with tar paper on the inside. They were usually 3 rings high. We also filled a wood silo. He built his first concrete stave Madison silo in 1964. I haven't thought about those temporary silos for a long time. We used to carry the feed into the barn in bushel baskets, with each cow getting a full bushel.


Yes, my dad recalls building a 3 or 4 high snow fence silo as well right next to this wooden silo all the way until the 50's sometime.
