85 year old wood stave silo filling

Dad used to that very thing in a 16x50 stave and sometimes move the blower pipe over and fill a 16x40 brick silo too if they needed he feed that winter. He'd wear a long sleeve shirt and button the top button o keep the silage off as much as he could. Had the three foot sections that would go all the way to the bottom and just keep walking around the outside and packing it all the way to the top. Never saw him do it but he also would put a row of picket fence on top to get even more silage in them. Obviously the didn't have roofs on them. Ah the good old days.
