I am looking for opinions on a new grain dryer. Currently using a couple of larger Shivvers with a Level Dry, but need something bigger yet. I know there are a lot of people that don't like Shivvers, but we like some things about them. To us, the biggest negative is they are not really upgradable. Looking at different continous flows, screenless, tower or a Shivvers with 3 50hp fans on a 48' bin. Which is the best overall system in terms of efficiency, durability, consistent grain moisture, least damage, etc?
Dry corn with a Sukup screen CF dryer, DMC Grain Flow ( Shivers type dryer) and a Top Dry. Corn quality is superior out of the Grain Flow and Top Dry vs CF dryer. Most efficient would be the Top Dry
Wouldn't want to rely on one dryer as the only way to to dry corn. If something happens to one of our drying systems don't have to completely shut down. Top Dry control panel went on the fritz this fall and was down several days to get a new one. Several years ago CF dryer caught on fire ad burnt a bunch of wiring and was down several days before got it back to operating. |
