Tires are better in the snow than tracks, because the track will just float and not grip.  

Not sure, but are the models that come with tracks, easily changed over to tires, or are there some large differences?

Snow varies greatly - wet icy snow and tires and tracks perform about the same, they slip and slide . . . . 

Dedicated track machines are not meant to change over to tires - tire machines can accept slip over the tire tracks. They type of track makes a big difference in traction on any type of snow . . . . . .  .
