Deep southern Illinois
No experience on a chopping head, but we just put them on our very poor performance New Holland head, and it’s like a brand new head! Head loss is 10% of what it used to be. It just pulls the stalks down so much better. The chopped residue is nice (green stalks just disappear) but the header loss issue makes them worth it. Cheaper than OEM by about $200/row. Hoping to alleviate some of the issues I had with trash planting this spring, but regardless I’m already sold on the concept. I hope to yearly put a tack of hard surface weld on the leading edge of the blades to help with wear.
