Subject: RE: Black layer corn?

Tenn Valley
I have some doubts about 90% yield and milk line. There's no way that corn growers with 1/2 milk line corn will be OK. A bushel of corn is 9.311 gallons. 1/2 milk line has a moisture of 40% to be dried to 15%. 9.311 gal times 25% [moisture reduction] is 2.33 gallons per bu - moisture loss or 19 lbs out of every bu for drying. Maybe all the carbohydrate sink is in the corn and getting the 2 gallons of water out of each bu will be the expense. Ethanol plants should use this corn But that another can of worms! God Bless!
