Saronville, NE | The best job on earth, and held by some of the hardest working people I've ever met. It is opening the front door in the morning and breathing in the loamy scent of the cattleyard or freshly baled hay stacked in the barn, that you appreciate even more now than when you raked or baled it in the field because you know it will feed your livestock or help pay the bills through the year. It's loading up my new baby daughter to take her with me to bring my husband a meal in the field, and seeing the gratitude and appreciation on his face along with the ornery grin he gives me because I know he's doing what he loves! It is many contrasts: disappointment and anger after the crop you planted had hail or wind damage, yet pride when you bring in a fruitful harvest. Praying for rain when it's dry, or praying for rain to hold off so you can finish harvesting your crop.
Farming is a endevour we are proud and blessed to be involved with, and I hope we can continue to be in for a long time! I really enjoyed reading all the posts...thank you to all the farmers! | |
