Central Nebraska | The main problem with that stuff is that the stem is too long for it to feed very well unless it is relatively dry. Unlike shorter stemmed crops the sorghum sudan and similar crops tend have quite a bit of resistance and drag unless they get down towards that 25% moisture level. The other problem is that the windows are usually so heavy that it's very hard to get the bottom to dry, especially in a wet year such as this one. Let the top get good and dry, Then come in with a good rake and flip it and let the bottom dry out some. A rowse sidekick rske works extremely well. I bet yours looked dry but was a soggy mess underneath. Unfortunately I've spent plenty of hours unplugging bakers due to that very condition. | |
