Mascoutah, Illinois | Farming is embracing the daily challenges and facing them head on standing tall and proud. It is the smell of freshly tilled soil in the spring, watching the lightning on your porch hoping for that "million dollar rain, the first scent of the corn pollinating early in the evening just as the sun is going down, climbing up into that four wheel tractor cab and being able to see so far away, driving in your pickup truck and looking at your crops and getting that giddy feeling inside, waking up at 4:00am while it is still dark knowing your day is going to be sixteen hours, the dog waiting for you in the yard as you pull up to the house and its dusk, your kids yelling "daddy's home", and a loving wife with dinner on the stove not caring how her day went just how yours was. It's every person's dream, doing something you love, providing for so many folks around the world, and thanking God that he gave you more day to enjoy your life and persevere like the generations that came before you. | |
