Subject: RE: Deere or Nitro sprayer

CENTRAL ILLINIOS
I run an older Nitro (2002 model 200 HT) and although I sprayed some fungicide on corn last year it really would not get high enough to do it comfortably in some taller varieties. Maybe the new ones are taller but go out and measure some of your tallest corn and then measure the boom height before making a big investment in either one. In my opinion the rear boom would be better if you are having clearance problems as it will keep your windshield cleaner. I ended up rigging a rear boom covering about 6 rows then blocked off some tips on the front and that helped. On shorter corn it did ok or at least better that $10/ acre for a plane. Also had overheating issues with the little pieces of the tassel plugging up the radiator sometimes after only a couple rounds so hopefully they have improved that.
