Tangent, OR | I work for what would be considered a very large general contractor in the northwest. Copper is the line of choice, with the sweated/soldered joints. The crimp on stuff will hold air for a pressure test and randomly fail at other times. The PEX is OK, but you have to be careful about the installation and routing. There are guidelines for the radius of the tubing. You want to shield it when you can. The fewer joints the better. The biggest thing wether pex, or copper crimp, is to use the NAME BRAND parts, no made in china garbage. The manufacturer of the pipe or tubing has to match the manufacturer of the joints, couplers, etc that you use. Pex for instance says PEX stamped into the side of the fitting, the asian stuff does not. You cannot and will not tell the difference until you look at this stuff. Manufacturers will void warranties if you dont use !00% their parts. The asian stuff has bags that are almost totally identical, it is intentionally deceptive. | |
