S.E. Sask. | paul the original - 9/13/2019 08:06with As fast as dad would drive across the fields and over washboards, these patterns held together on the rack. Light hay or straw was harder to pack well, it jostled around more because it was light and slippery compared to heavy bales. Paul We learned pretty early to drive slow and careful in the field while the stack was being built on the wagon. Otherwise we got the fun of having to restack the whole thing after it collapsed on a side hill. The big flat deck my dad built out of an old truck had a 9x20 top and would take three across. Seems to me it would take almost 40 bales to a layer. With straw bales, on occasion we could put on over 200 bales.
