I don’t know your chairs or what joints you’re fixing, but you might consider drilling through if the joint is large enough, then glue a dowel in there and cur it off flush.

I have another chair which uses socket-screws and embedded nuts, which can be constantly tightened as necessary. That might be the best solution for wooden chairs.
Actually I think the best solution was the solid oak chairs that the teachers had in our elementary school. Those things were built so solid that they never loosened up. However, I did see one get broken by a 4'9" substitute teacher when Brian Rinas got her so worked up that she raised the chair over her head and crashed it to the floor.
