Somewhat depends on how thy were put together. I fixed a bunch of chairs in our dorm; One knock with a mallet and they fell apart as the dowels were lacking enough glue to hold them together (factory made I reckon). I would think you would want to take it apart first and determine what the problem is/why it is loose, then go from there. Might take Gorilla glue, maybe a wedge would fix it, re-fill screw holes then screw together again.........
