Southeastern Alberta
If you aren't drywalling your house I suppose the sloppy factor may be an issue, but how often do you see your pipes from a living area? I just built a new house and put PEX in myself. It was a joy to work with, easy to cut, easy to crimp and no leaks. And no fire. No weird noises from the pipes, and its easy to add more fixtures if need be.

I have not seen a new home with copper in it, not even high end lotto or show homes.
