Northeast Indiana (Auburn) | I always used copper in the past but went with pex when I repaced the water lines last summer when I added on to the house. I was concerned about the fittings reducing the flow and line pressure, this has not been a problem infact both have increased. I ran 3/4" as main feed lines then used 1/2" from there. Put in a valve before every use point incase you have a need to shut off a use point. We put in plastic holdown clamps about every 3'. No it is not nice and squared off like copper but it is smooth, doesn't sweat and easy to install. When I put the copper lines in 16 years ago it took a contractor 15 hours to install. It took less than 8 hours to install the pex. Last summer copper would have cost five times as much as the pex. |
