Southern Pa. | 7R tractors have had some problems with IVT, not sure of all the exact issues, but I've seen too many, for as new as they are, sitting in the dealers service bays in pieces!! Some fix as fails, and Pips on them as well.
The 7X20 IVT tractors are not dealer serviceable. Pretty much remove and replace the IVT if even some fairly minor glitch occurs. Not cheap!! $$$$$ There are a few folks who have figured out how to circumvent total replacement (over minor issues) but those shops aren't in everyones back yard. We do have one in our area that can repair the 7X20 IVT transmissions. Not a JD dealer.
The 7X30 series small frame IVT transmissions are dealer repairable. I have heard of very few issues with those. Haven't seen them in 100 pieces at the dealers, either.
Anything can break, but 7X30 IVT transmissions have a good track record around here. | |
