Pittsburg, Kansas | My wife is an excellent cook to begin with. Has done some catering in distant past and still helps out on some big meals.
We have never counted calories. Have no idea. We just fix enough so we are satisfied. That soup bowl would have been completely full.
Keep in mind fat is calorie dense, and we make sure to get plenty of fat. If meat is not fatty enough she will add bacon or olive oil or butter or coconut oil. I had some more pork rinds after also.
We eat to satiety. We rarely eat anything between meals (to let insulin levels drop) though and normal just two meals. Once in a while three if for social reasons.
The trick for me is get enough fat and protein. Fat satiates, carbs make you hungry in a few hours.
