One thing that really helped me is that my wife was on board from the very beginning. She also was ready to do something about her weight/health so we did it together. Having support within the house makes a world of positive difference. Never know till you ask, your wife and daughter might be completely supportive.

Truer words never spoken!  It makes a world of difference that both members of the household are doing the same food. My hubs had a few pounds to lose, I had more than a few. He and I both started this adventure, and once we had a pattern or habit going, and he'd lost what he needed to, I could march on so much easier on my own. I envision it being a little like quitting smoking when both of you smoke. No comparison to being able to do it together, at least at first
