It is one of those drugs that seems to be the least worse than most of the other diabetic drugs. But it also can have some pretty nasty side effects. I went off it for a while (after I was off everything else) then went back on as my fasting glucose level still was not where I wanted it to be. It still isn't (like it to be under 100) but I think as time goes by and I heal internally it will get better. It has already dropped another 10 points in the last month or so. Went back off it a few weeks ago. I think it contributed to my constipation/diarrhea roller coaster over the years. EVERY drug has side effects. How bad they are or how they manifest themselves in different people differs. Statins are an example. According to the studies, they have low levels of the side effect of causing muscle pain. But did you know that before those scientific trials start they have a "run in" period where people that can't tolerate the drug are dismissed from the study?????? Then anyone is surprised when doctors prescribe and lots of people end up not taking their prescription for long be cause........drum roll........severe muscle pain. Then the doctor acts totally surprised because hardly anyone is supposed to have that problem. Cardiologist wanted me on statins. No way, no shape, no form. John |
