Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | west illini - 8/25/2019 07:47 A while back the held an auction of several of the pieces at the dumont museum. i was wondering if it was thinned too much ? Thinking of doing a day trip up there , plus seeing any thing else in that region of Iowa people would suggest
Lyle and Helen Dumont sold the Oliver collection at auction two years ago. There is still an amazing amount of treasures remaining in their museum. One of the largest Roy Rogers collections in the U.S. Thousands of dolls, toy cars/trucks, other "hero" collections, toy train set-ups that are awe-inspiring, tractors, signs, collector cars, pedal tractors, antique farm equipment, etc.
As for the collector cars and tractors, it would be good to hurry. There is another auction coming up in October to further thin out those parts of the amazing museum. The trains will not sell, neither will the Roy Rogers items or the toys. Will still be worth a stop to check it all out. They're generally open until October on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 till 5, or you can call 641-622-2592 to make an appointment.
