I think most of the problem hauling hay from Oregon to CA is freight cost. Figure hay cost for high quality hay plus $50-70 per ton at least depending on where it’s headed in California. I know some hay was sent from here to hay kingdom, lot of random van trailers and swift trucks hauling it. Must have been cheap freight. Also doesn’t make as much sense hauling that far with only 25-28 tons.
