Subject: RE: recommend connections-underground water line pipe

Iowa - Floyd County
Compression fittings seem to be much more reliable and have a lower failure rate. All of the water leaks I've had where the connection was the problem was a hose barb fitting, either the clamps come loose or they were over tightened and they damage the tubing and it eventually leaks. I'm not saying that every time you use a hose barb fitting it will leak and I have to assume there are many connections in my system that are hose barb and haven't or won't have any trouble, it has just been my experience that they fail more often than compression fittings.
