southern middle TN | Good evening guys! Looking at the 5100-5115M John Deere’s. Just starting to look so not serious just yet, but would like any and all opinions of these little tractors. Need an all around chore tractor for raking, tedding, limited amount of square baling, general loader work, moving, stacking, and feeding 5x6 round bales etc. Open station, MFWD, with a loader of course. Have these units be holding up well? Are they big enough to pull a 10’6” Discbine if they have to? Do they have enough lead in their a$$, so to speak, to handle the 5x6 rolls with out any problems. I realize that a 6M would be better but they are too expensive. I did price a 6145M with open station, MFWD, and a loader. Lord have mercy, it knocked my hat in the creek, 118k. Absolutely ridiculous!! Back to the 5M’s. We would use it a lot I believe, so I want to make sure that it could stand up to the loader work mainly. We try to take care of our stuff but I worry about the front axle being beefy enough to handle the big rolls. Any and all input is appreciated guys! Thanks and be safe! Also not ruling out the equivalent Case IH, so input on those is welcome as well.
