Subject: Planting corn in ripped ground

Portland TN
What is the best method of planting corn in ground that has been fall ripped, With the ripper or at an angle to the ripper? Also your opinions as to why. Ground will have gon through a few freeze / thaw cycles. Also is a clay loam soil type. And planter will have row cleaners.
Thanks in advance.
